Initial Diagnostics:

• Laptop wouldn't boot
• No power lights with or without power cable

Test 1

• Removing battery
• Readjusting / reposition laptop's case

Results / Hypothesis

• Seems like someone previously opened the case and did not properly re-assemble it
• Power Jack and power buttons were loose on the sides of the laptop

Test 2

• Booting into windows stalled at windows start-up screen (looks like previous shut-down was sudden)
• Booting into last good configuration on Vista
• All of a sudden screen started flickering on and off
• Computer booted with continously flickering screen and windows showed up
• NO MOUSE
• Tried removing / reinstalling various device drivers, doesnt detect it
• Sony utils do not display the mouse
• Took apart laptop

Results / Hypothesis

• Seems like something that looks like tar flooded various components on the inside
• mouse flexicable is burned, keyboard is working
• need to replace parts swx-260 and the flexicable
