NASA Moon bombing - images and video from LCROSS in search of water!
On Friday October 9, 2009 - NASA executed LCROSS mission at 4:20AM PDT.
LCROSS - Lunar CRater Observing and Sensing Satellite - mission's objective was to confirm presence of water under the moon's surface at the South Pole.
They've selected a craters that's in permanent shadow with a temperatures reaching very close to an absolute zero.
One of the primary reasons for this project is to reduce costs of space exploration. Moon is already full of Oxygen from different mineral sources by having access to hydrogen and hopefully water right at the moon it'll be possible to create fuel right there on the Moon.
There are some concerns about bombing the moon and it's effects, but scientists are reassuring that the impact is very minimal and is similar to countless impacts from space by asteroids.
Google is honoring Barcode. Will RFID technology replace it?
Today on October 7th, Google seems to be honoring Woodland and Silver to whom the following patent, was issued in 1952 for their barcode invention which is widely used all over the world to clasify, sort and quickly search for any particular item in the inventory, en example of this technology can be found at any major supermarket.
A more expensive technology on a rise is RFID which is radio-frequency identification. The major advantage is that it's not always easy and effecient to scan and re-scan barcoded items, with the use of RFID an item can be identified from a distance without too much effort. The down side the is that this technology is much more expensive to implement.
